Criticism if constructive might be a valuable tool for an individual or an organization to grow in professional as well as personal life.

Nobody likes criticism but it depends on the way you handle it. If you take it positively you can make a difference. Same goes for an organization. For an organization, criticism is a form of communication and we at Nispana take feedbacks seriously which helped us to grow stronger in last 8 years. From our experience, the best way to handle negative feedback is not to get defensive and never make excuses. Always take criticism for help and assume good intentions.

For a business owner or a manager, criticism comes in the different form such as feedback, online reviews, balance sheets, employee’s retention rates. As a leader, you will be criticized because you hold a position of authority. People vent their frustration to the top executives as they are easy to target. No need to worry if you are in the same boat. At times it gets bitter, rather responding aggressively you need to wait, think & understand the context of criticism.

Finally, you can’t avoid or ignore criticism altogether, so you need to learn to live with it. At the workplace, it can increase insight & perspective, it creates bonds and cultivates a trustworthy workspace. The basic mantra of handling criticism is that don’t let it get to your heart because it is a privilege that we earn. It requires mental toughness, so just think “What could I do better”? If you don’t agree with the negative comments then just ignore it. Also, you need to confirm the source, from where criticism is coming.

“Don’t let someone bring you down, show them you are strong enough to get up”
